The leather industry has some not-so-nice secrets - think toxic tanning and a serious plastic habit. Here's what Minor History is doing differently:
90% of the world's leather is chrome tanned. This metal based process is extremely toxic to humans and the environment. They use a natural process called vegetable tanning instead.
Most leather bags use plastic liners and fillers for structure. Our naturally structured leathers make the bag of your dreams - no plastic in sight.
All of their hides, sourced from the US and Italy, are verified byproducts of the food industry. They honour this valuable, natural material by using the entirety of the hide in each production run.
They work with small factories in China that produce based on need, instead of inflated units, and work to waste as little as possible. We conduct ethical audits of our factories to ensure they meet SEDEX SMETA 4-pillar requirements.
In this era of throwaway goods, they’re making things that last. Their hardware is solid brass and all of their materials (down to the thread!) are Oeko-Tex and REACH tested and approved. Quality over quantity, a concept Frock loves!
